After serving the Bowness area of Calgary for nearly 80 years, Foothills United Church held its final worship service on Sunday, June 21, 2026. The congregation had voted to disband earlier this year.
      Sunday’s service was attended by Foothills members and participants, former ministers and friends. Worship was led by Rev. Marion Martin, Foothills and St. Thomas United Churches, Rev. Tracy Robertson, St. Thomas United Church and Rev. Dr. Karen Medland, Chinook Winds Regional Minister. Several Foothills members participated in the service, including Board Chair and Regional Representative Val Magill. St. Thomas Church members hosted the luncheon following.
       We are grateful for Foothills’ faithful witness that carries on through the lives its ministry touched and changed since 1946. May God’s peace go with the Foothills people in the journey ahead to new congregations.
