Meet the Musicians for Regional Gathering 2025!

Some familiar and new voices will lead music at the Chinook Winds Regional Meeting, May 8-11, 2025. We’re excited to be joined by Mark Green, Barb Myers and Cheryl Dennett.

Mark Green has been a United Church Minister for 30+ years, serving a variety of congregations in Alberta and BC. Part of his ministry has been in helping congregations expand their musical experiences and integrate a variety of sources from outside of the traditional church music. His passion is integrating music with liturgy to create a wholistic experience. He has led music at conferences and events across Canada, created and produced children’s musicals and led multigenerational choirs. Mark’s leadership is through voice, guitar and piano. Mark currently lives in Victoria, BC and enjoys reading, walks by the ocean and time with family and friends and the occasional single malt.

Barbara Myers is a classically trained, jazz-loving pianist and singer at home in a wide variety of musical styles and venues including nightclubs, nursing homes, resource centres, prisons and churches. She toured with Alberta Culture’s concert series as a solo artist, performed at the Edmonton Jazz Festival and worked with musicians such as PJ Perry and the late Tommy Banks. During that time, she was a resource person for many church congregations, conferences, General Council events, and Naramata Centre. In 1995, she became a diaconal minister in the United Church. Now retired and living in beautiful BC, Barbara continues to share her love of music.

Cheryl Dennett is a Victoria, BC-based musician and music teacher. She holds a Bachelor’s of Music in Percussion Performance from the University of British Columbia and performs regularly as a percussionist, pianist, and vocalist. She enjoys teaching one-on-one music lessons and is a certified Colourstrings Instructor specializing in Early Childhood Music Education. Cheryl is a musician at Broadview United where she also directs a children’s choir and an adult handbell choir. At home, Cheryl loves spending time with her young daughter, husband, and dachshund.
