You will find information about Brenda’s funeral and a memorial fund in her memory HERE
Dear Beloved Community,
I am writing with deep sorrow to share the heartbreaking news that our dear friend and colleague, Rev. Brenda Fawkes, was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident this past weekend. The shock and grief we feel as a community are beyond words.
Brenda served the church with extraordinary dedication in many roles — most recently as Vocational Minister for Chinook Winds and Pacific Mountain Regions. She also previously served as a congregational minister and professor at Vancouver School of Theology. Her passion for theological education and her fearless advocacy for her students shaped the lives of so many.
In the coming days, we will share more information about plans for a celebration of her life. In the meantime, please hold her partner, Rev. Nancy Talbot, and their two sons in prayer.
Brenda’s legacy is imprinted on all of us who had the privilege to know her. She leaves behind a lasting impact on the church she loved so deeply, and on all those whose lives she touched.
As we begin to process this tragic loss, let us recognize that we are united in our collective grief. In our sorrow, may we find strength in that strong and tender love at the heart of life that even death can not contain, and may we also find strength in one another as we support and hold space for the many who mourn her passing.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord — Romans 8:31-39
With blessings,
Treena Duncan, Executive Minister, Chinook Winds and Pacific Mountain Regions
