From Doug Goodwin, Executive Minister for Chinook Winds

As the Chinook Winds Region builds its governance and operations for United Churches in the southern half of Alberta, there is a need to take up a range of work formerly conducted by various Presbytery leaders. Among these work elements are requirements for congregational support, congregational life decisions, and community ministry engagement. Based on extensive experience in the field, a wide range of professional relationships, and a deep resource and referral base, Joel Den Haan Consulting Group, based out of Turner Valley AB, has been selected and retained by Chinook Winds Regional Council to meet this need.

Well-known to many United Church people in Chinook Winds Region, Principal Rev. Joel Den Haan has previously served in planning and strategy roles as Alberta and Northwest Conference staff person, and since 2012 in a professional consulting role across Alberta and beyond.   Joel also works with St. Andrew’s United Church in Calgary, as director for its regional ministry outreach for the past five years.

Joel’s consulting group draws upon resources from within and beyond The United Church of Canada and begins work on a half-time basis in January 2019 with a broad understanding of our local communities of faith, the challenges we face as well as our potential.
