National Day of Truth and Reconciliation Events

Monday, September 30 Land Acknowledgement Workshop. 10 am. Write or re-write a land acknowledgement. Then stay for a simple lunch. Facilitator Rev. Tony Snow. Lakeview United Church, Calgary. RSVP lakeviewuc@telus.net 

Monday, September 30. National Truth and Reconciliation Event with Tony Snow and the SoCal (South Calgary Cluster). 4:30 to 7:30 pm. A time for sacred ritual, a film called Birth of a Family on the 1960s Scoop and a shared meal from Kokom’s Bannock Kitchen. A children’s activity will take place during the film for those ages 4 and up and will be led by Lacey Grey Arts. Location: Fish Creek United Church, Calgary.

October 4. Sisters in Spirit Day. In Red Deer, meet at the Red Deer Native Friendship Centre at 5 pm. In Calgary, see details in the artwork below. In Lethbridge, the walk begins at city hall and proceeds to the Galt gardens for the vigil.

Friday, October 11. University of Calgary, Department of Classics and Religion and Chair of Christian Thought present Lebel Lecture on Christian Ethics: Reconciliation and Repair: Treaty, Covenant, Relationship, Bond by Rev. Tony Snow, Chinook Winds Region’s Indigenous Minister.

Tony will reflect on intergenerational reconciliation by examining and addressing neglected histories and sharing insight on developing and nurturing reconciliation efforts. Location: Patricia A. Whelan Performance Hall, Central Library. Calgary. 7 pm. Free but you need to register.

Tuesday, October 22. Right Relations Circle. The monthly Right Relations Circle sessions take place on the fourth Tuesday of each month. 7 pm. On Zoom.   Please register HERE.  If you have previously registered, you don’t need to re-register. You will receive a reminder in your inbox on the day of the Right Relations Circle.
