June is National Indigenous History Month.  Several events are happening in Chinook Winds Region that offer us opportunities for reflection, education and action towards reconciliation.  Please plan to attend an event or two!

June 6 & 7: Join Rev. Tony Snow and others for reconciliation circles taking place in Red Deer and Lacombe this week. The Red Deer Circle will be at Gaetz Memorial United Church (with Sunnybrook United) on Thursday, June 6, 2024 The Lacombe Circle will be at St. Andrew’s United Church on Friday, June 7. Both circles will be at 7 pm and are open to ecumenical and interfaith partners.

Sundays in June: Tony will be speaking at Waterton (AB) United on June 16, Central United, Calgary, on June 23 and Knox United, Calgary, on June 30. He will also do a talk on smudging on June 9 at noon at Knox United, Calgary.

June 21. National Indigenous Peoples Day: Tony will be at the Indigenous Peoples Day event at Heritage Park, Calgary on Friday, June 21. People are invited to come for a talk at Tony’s tipi followed by a powwow from 11- 4 pm. Further details are in the poster above. More details on the full day HERE

June 24 and 25. Site visits to Mount Yamnuska and Cave and Basin: You’re invited to site visits to Mount Yamnuska on Monday, June 24 and Cave and Basin on Tuesday, June 25, both of which are sacred places to the Stoney Nakoda. A talk and ceremony will take place at both locations and the start time for both is noon. Lunch may take place at a local restaurant afterwards. June 25: Right Relations Circle. The monthly Right Relations Circle will be on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 and will be online. Join us as we gather for conversation, connection, and friendship as we learn how to live out the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. Our time in June will focus on the Indigenous Day of Prayer and the interdenominational movements towards reconciliation.
