Honouring Indigenous Women on January 4, 2024

As we observe National Ribbon Skirt Day on January 4, we remember the contributions, industry and wisdom of Indigenous Women as they struggle against and within European patriarchy. We give thanks for their resilience and retention of cultural practices which are critical for the work of reconciliation for all peoples. We offer prayers and allyship for the Indigenous Women, Girls and Two Spirit people who struggle against loss, discrimination, exclusion, violence and erasure in Canadian society. We support Indigenous people’s cultural reconnection as part of our work on the Calls to Action, as we host a Ribbon Skirt Making Workshop with Teresa Snow at Lantern Community Church from 11 am to 1 pm.
