Recognizing Indigenous Veteran’s Day on November 8, 2022

You are invited to join Chinook Winds Indigenous Minister Rev. Tony Snow in a prayerful time to remember and give thanks for the thousands of Indigenous veterans who fought to defend our country. National Indigenous Day has been observed on November 8 since 1994. It was 50 years after World War before Indigenous People were permitted to lay Remembrance Day wreaths at the National War Memorial. Previously, Indigenous citizens who signed up for military service lost their Indian Status and did not receive equal veteran benefits once their service ended.
