New Era for Ogden United Church

Ogden United Church

Ogden United Church, Calgary, officially moved into a new era of its ministry as the congregation and Chinook Winds Region de-commissioned its current building on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. In partnership with the Mustard Seed, the former Ogden Church building will be demolished this month in preparation for a multi-use building that will include affordable family housing, a community hub and worship space for the Church.

Wednesday’s service included members of the Ogden congregation, representatives from Chinook Winds Region and the Mustard Seed. Ogden’s Minister, Rev. Bill Weaver, and Chinook Winds Pastoral Relations Minister Rev. Stephen Harper presided. The service included messages from Mustard Seed Chief Executive Officer Stephen Wile, Chinook Winds Executive Minister Treena Duncan and United Church Moderator Richard Bott. Also present were Sue Brodrick and Barrie Clayton, members of Chinook Winds Property Working Group, Barb Lough, Lay Ministry Support and Rev. Joel Den Haan, Chinook Winds Community of Faith Strategy Consultant. Taylor Kawaguchi and Aaron Badger who have been the key project leads for The Mustard Seed accompanied Steve Wile in attendance.
