Geoffrey Simmins joins the staff of Chinook Winds Region in September 2020 as the Hospital Ministry Coordinator. This 10-hour per week time-limited position, generously supported by the Mission and Service Fund, is an exciting initiative led by Wilma Clark and the Hospital Ministries team, a subcommittee of the Region’s Lay Ministry Support Working Group.
The position’s goal is to have Alberta Health Services (AHS)-approved Hospital Ministry in all Acute Care Hospitals in the region by 2022. Geoffrey looks forward to growing this new ministry for Chinook Winds.
Ordained in 2004, Geoffrey considers himself fortunate to have served urban and rural churches both in Calgary and region as well as in New Zealand. He has developed a strong interest in pastoral care. He is married to Joan and they have two adult sons.
While waiting for regular visits to resume in hospitals, Geoffrey is making AHS connections as well as exploring how online teaching can be helpful to equip new volunteers.
If you would like to chat, or feel a call to this ministry, please email Geoffrey.
